Twilight fans, never fear, there are plenty of vampire romances to satisfy your "thirst." Try theses Twilight Read-Alikes, or use the lists to hunt down more on your own.
Stephanie Meyers vampire romance novels known collectively as “Twilight” is a seismic success selling 17+ million copies and creating innumerable adoring fans who may be asking, “What do I read next after Twilight?” Demon in My Viewby Amelia Atwater-Rhodes (Laurel Leaf, 2001) Demon is the sequel to In the Forests of the Night written by teenage author Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. High school senior Jessica Allodola is an unhappy misfit and secret novelist. She has just written a book under a pseudonym which describes in lurid detail the intricacies of the world of vampires and witches. What she doesn't realize is that this world, which she thinks is a product of her subconscious mind, is real and some of the witches and vampires are not happy that she has exposed them. While a band of dark beings attempt to kill her, others try to save her as the characters of her book collide. Glass Houses: the Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine (NAL Jam, 2006) What if vampires (the evil, bloodsucking, fiendish kind) designed and ran an entire town? Rachel Caine answers this question in her Veronica-Mars-meets-Buffy-the-Vampire-Slayer style novel Glass Houses. College freshman Claire Danvers moves off campus and in with a group of teens who clue her in to the town she is living in: Morganville, where unwary humans are there for the taking. Bloodline by Kate Cary (Razorbill, 2006) Bloodline is a blend of mystery, horror and romance with a thread of suspense holding it all together. Nurse Mary Steward recognizes the new patient at the Purfleet Sanatorium; he is Lt. John Shaw, who lives in a nearby mansion with his sister Lily. In an attempt to rescue him from his nightmares, she reads his diary and uncovers a terrifying legacy of blood-thirst and deceit. Lt. Shaw is haunted by his leader from the Great War, Captain Quincy Harker, who has taken John's sister Lily home to be his bride. As the wedding day draws near thegrim family legacy is revealed and Lily must decide to continue Count Dracula's legacy or to end it all. Written in diary form, this novel continues the saga of Bram Stoker's Dracula for a new generation. Sweetbloodby Pete Hautman (Simon Pulse, 2004) Sixteen year old Lucy Szabo dresses in black and frequents a vampire chat room where she is known as Sweetblood. Convinced that an incident with a vampire bat ten years ago is what caused her Type 1 diabetes, she submits a grim but interesting creative writing paper based on the theory that vampire legends stemmed from observing the behavior of untreated diabetics. The paper alarms the school and her parents so she is packed off to a therapist. Meanwhile, the only person who understands her is an older man from the vampire chat room who fancies himself a modern-day vampire. When her parents take her computer away from her, Lucy decides to take her online relationships in person with disastrous results. The Silver Kiss by Annette Klausse (Delacourte, 2009) Sixteen year old Zoe is grieving; her mother is dying and her father is pushing her away. No one dares to talk to her about her family's tragedy and she finds herself alone in her grief and fear until the mysterious and alluring Simon appears. He shares her loneliness and understands her pain. Simon is a vampire kept alive by his drive to avenge his mother's 300 year old murder. Unable to refuse Simon, Zoe agrees to embark on a dangerous mission to help Simon trap his mother's killer.
