Vampire and Werewolf Books for Teens

The Teenage Supernatural Trend Continues

Vampire and werewolf characters are not a new concept. In fact, they've dominated adult supernatural romance books for ages.

But ever since October of 2005, when Stephenie Meyer put her miraculous dream to paper and published Twilight, the concept has flourished in the teen book market. Vampire and werewolf books are flying onto and off of the shelves, as so many aspiring authors are taking advantage of this phenomenal trend to get their foot in the door.

It’s been nearly a year since Breaking Dawn—the final book in the Twilight saga—was released, and fans are still hankering for more. So here’s a list of teenage vampire and werewolf titled published between December 2008 and June 2009:

Kayla can’t resist her attraction to Lucas, a werewolf, in Rachel Hawthorne’s Dark Guardian series.

After her father dies, Zara is shipped off to Maine to live with her grandmother. But danger lies in this small town and Zara is the target.

  • Shiver by Maggie Steifvater (Scholastic Press | August 2009)

Grace is drawn to one of the wolves that lives in the wood behind her house. They often stare at each other, worlds apart. But their worlds soon collide when Grace discovers that her beloved creature is so much more than a wolf.

  • Hunted: A House of Night Novel by P.C. Cast (St. Martin's Press | March 10, 2009)

Hunted is the fifth book in the House of Night series. Check out the first four books: Marked, Betrayed, Chosen and Untamed.

  • Persistence of Memory by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes (Random House Children's Books | December 9, 2008)

  • Night World No. 2: Dark Angel, The Chosen, Soulmate by L.J. Smith (Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing | November 18, 2008)
  • Night World No.3: Huntress, Black Dawn, Witchlight by L.J. Smith (Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing | April 7, 2009)

L.J. Smith’s Night World series was original published in the 1990’s as individual books. Since then they’ve been rebound into three-book collections. Start from the beginning with Night World No. 1: Secret Vampire, Daughters of Darkness, Spellbinder.

  • Evernight by Claudia Gray (HarperCollins Publishers | February 2, 2009)
  • Stargazer by Claudia Gray (HarperCollins Publishers | March 16, 2009)

Claudia Gray’s series follows Bianca to Evernight Academy where she discovers that not only are she and her classmates vampires, but the love of her life is a vampire hunter.

Check online or in book stores regularly, as brand new vampire and werewolf titles surface every month.

hey these r all great books and all but if u want a good teen vampire book check out: Vampire Kisses Series, Vampire Academy Series, House of Night Series, Twilight Saga, Mortal Instruments Series, Morganville Vampire Series, and a whole lot more if u type in teen vampire books at www.bn.com

I have read so many good books, the best book i have ever read would be Vampire kisses, it was everything i wanted in a good book. i also LOVED Vampire academy books they were AWESOME! both me and my best friend read Vampire kisses and Vampire Academy together! we love them!

the twilight saga is great,but ny favorite is vampire kisses.if you know that your differant and you know what it's like to be an outsider,then you willove this book
